APC Construction, LLC was
awarded the sheet pile, concrete
pile, mooring pile
and test pile program contract by Crosby
Dredging, LLC for the Northern Expansion
Phase II, Slip C, Phase III Bulkhead Project
in Port Fourchon, La. APC was responsible
for the installation of 117,665 square feet
of steel sheet pile wall, 64,220 linear foot of
12-inch precast concrete piles, 2,310 linear
foot of 24-inch steel pipe piles and installation
of a test pile program. This project was
located along an operating navigational
waterway. With such a close proximity to
the waterway, APC performed twice daily
checks for leaks of all fluids used in the
pile driving process due to the use of diesel
impact hammers. Spill kits were located on
all equipment and oil boom was onsite to
protect from any runoff or spilled liquids.
The project involved difficult logistics
and technical problems that the APC team
was able to mitigate in order to help the
overall project overcome. Due to sheet pile
coating delivery time constraints, APC built
this project in a unique, non-traditional
method that allowed the project to be
