Some 40 years later, Hoffman Equipment has grown exponentially
from its modest start as a Fiatallis dealer in northern
New Jersey. From its corporate headquarters in Piscataway,
the organization has expanded to six branches – in the Bronx,
Marlboro and Medford, New York; and most recently in New Jersey
and Pennsylvania to Middlesex, Deptford and Lionville.
In an industry where big corporations dominate, Hoffman is
unique. It continues to prosper as a family-owned business and
is currently owned by a third generation Hoffman, Tim Watters.
A thriving, burgeoning business means more employees. The
dealership has expanded to employ more than 150 workers –
about 65 office personnel, and more than 85 people involved in
 product support.
With customers being the main focus, the company has a fleet
of 28 fully equipped service trucks with crane capabilities. These
come in handy for big, heavy work. Bringing the technician to the
worksite is an efficient way to get customers up and running.
“Having this type of rapid response vehicles facilitates fast
diagnostics and improved uptime for our customers. We can do
more in the field without having to bring the machine back in the
shop,” said Patrick Hitpas, director of product support at Hoffman
Equipment. Moreover, there are about 30 technicians on the road,
ready to provide support on a day-to-day basis.
 Pile driving equipment
Due to the business having historic ties to the crane industry, it was
only natural to incorporate pile driving equipment into Hoffman’s
product lines. Pile driving and sheet driving equipment, whether
excavator mounted or free-hanging crane mount drivers, are
available from Hoffman for sale and rental. Hoffman represents
PVE Equipment, which is manufactured in the Netherlands, and
managed by product specialist, Bryan Bloyd. Bloyd has been with
