“We want to be ready for rapid change in the future,” said Fane.
“It’s a changing industry so we’re always adapting to new trends,
but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to abandon any of the things
that have gotten us to this point thus far.”
Fane also says the diverse skills and backgrounds of the employees
does not end in the field or management. His sister, Alyssa Otis,
is a part owner of the company.
“C.D. Perry is proud to be a company that has strong woman
and family ownership,” Fane said, adding that his sister recently
received her Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School and
now handles the administrative and human resources side of
the business.
Fane says belonging to Pile Driving Contractors Association is
one way his company keeps abreast as to what’s happening in the
driven pile industry.
He believes there’s a lot of value in attending PDCA conferences
and other events.
“We’re able to meet a lot of contractors, subcontractors, vendors
and owners from our area and also throughout the country, and
bounce ideas off one another and share some experiences,” said Fane.
“You really just kind of get a good feel for what the piling industries
are like in different regions of the country. It also gives us an opportunity
to deal with contractors and suppliers in the northeast that we
normally wouldn’t have had an opportunity to deal with locally.” t
