Faith in life
Scott’s life and career have been guided not only by his faith in his
work and family but also by his faith in God.
“More than anything else, I am a Christian,” said Nigels. “Jesus
Christ is my Lord and Savior. It keeps me accountable to the people
I work with and for, to my family – that’s my approach in life. I’m
very fortunate to have had good parents who set good examples.
My wife is in agreement and that was instilled into my four daughters,
and our grandchildren and our sons-in-law. There’s a deeper
connection with all of this that starts with our relationship with
the Lord.”
Nigels enjoys explaining the art of piling to newcomers in
the industry. He encourages the young people in his Sunday
School class to look seriously at construction as a career since
there’s so much opportunity to learn and grow. Piling, though,
will always hold a special place in Nigels’ heart, whether it be
because of its uniqueness – “The best, most fascinating part
of that building you’ll never see!” – or because it’s in his blood.
Either way, he continues to set the example for others that was
set for him about what it means to have a strong foundation
of faith.
“My dad was a great example of enjoying life but also taking
work life very seriously – while also separating the two. There’s
always going to be some overlap. But I think the biggest part is to
know that life is good and God is greater.” t
