John T. Parker, Jr. Industry Ambassador Award; and Dale Biggers,
vice president of Boh Bros., was the first recipient of the PDCA
Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations, gentlemen! You
can read more about each of these winners in this issue of PileDriver.
PDCA held its first certification exam for dedicated pile driving
rigs during the annual conference and plans to offer more in
the future.
As I said, it was a great conference (best I have been to!) and I
would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support. And
finally, after months of hard work, thanks to Steve, Debbie and
Marian for making the conference a success.
Other items to note:
PDCA’s 18th Annual Design and Installation of Cost-
Efficient Piles (DICEP) conference will be held in Portland,
Ore. this September. The theme of the conference is “The
Driven Pile Advantage: E4 – Efficiency, Effectiveness, Economy,
Environmental.”
We are offering a course on Deep Foundation Dynamic
Testing and Analysis (DFDTA) in conjunction with GRL/PDI,
October 11 to 13 at the PDI headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.
Our chapters continue to offer a wide variety of programs,
from dinner meetings, meet and greets, short courses, oyster roasts,
clay shoots and more. To find out what’s happening in a chapter
near you, go to our website, www.piledrivers.org. Also, for those
in the Pacific Northwest, PDCA has formed it newest and eighth
PDCA chapter – the PDCA of the Pacific Northwest Chapter. For
more information on this chapter, contact the PDCA office.
