PDCA in 2017!

As you read this, we are ready to enter the final quarter of 2017, and it has certainly
been a busy year.
We had a great annual conference this year at the Omni Amelia Island
Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Fla. The resort was beautiful, the presentations were
great and the Beach, Blues and Barbecue Dinner was a great opportunity for everyone to
catch up and socialize with old friends. Our keynote speaker was Kurt Nagle, president
and CEO of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA). We also had a presentation
on the history and future of NASA and the nascent commercial space program.
As someone who grew up during the race to the moon, I found it extremely fascinating.
A big thanks goes to everyone who presented at the conference. I know how much time it
can take to put a presentation together, and we all greatly appreciate the chance to learn
from your experiences. I would like to congratulate our Project of the Year award winners.
I would also like to congratulate our special award winners: Gerry McShane, director
of piling sales of Service Steel Warehouse, received the Committee Chair of the Year
Award; Pat Hannigan, president of GRL Engineers, received the Professional Engineers’
Service Award; Buck Darling, president of H.F. Darling, received the Presidential Award
for Distinguished Service; Bill Marczewski, president of BSM Engineering, received the
