Nothing but the BEST GeoQuip, a leading supplier of foundation
construction equipment, is growing its business
thanks to a strong commitment to quality
and service
By Mark Halsall
As one of the largest suppliers of
deep foundation construction
equipment, GeoQuip has
established a strong reputation for
providing customers with top-quality
vibratory hammers, diesel hammers,
hydraulic power units and hydraulic augers.
“We originally got our start as a
regional supplier of pile driving equipment
and accessories, and as an independent
dealer, we are able to only represent the
highest quality products from the best
manufacturers and the best brands for each
type of equipment,” said Martin Terwilliger,
who specializes in sales, operations and
marketing for GeoQuip. His father, Gary,
founded the company in Chesapeake, Va.
in 1987 and continues to serve as GeoQuip’s
president and CEO.
“We aren't beholden to using one brand
of anything; we only deal with the best
equipment. The benefit for our customers
has been that if we recommend a product,
it’s going to be of the highest quality. If it’s
not, we don’t carry it,” said Terwilliger. “The
number one priority we have is to continue
providing the high level of service we've
become known for. Maintaining our level of
service and accountability to our customers
is something we will never compromise on.”
Terwilliger says GeoQuip’s commitment
to quality and service has enabled the
company to grow from one location in
Virginia to where it is now continually
expanding facilities, equipment
and personnel.
Evidence of that is the GeoQuip branch
the company opened up in Orlando, Fla.
in 2016, followed by the purchase three
years later of HPSI, a manufacturer of
high-quality vibratory hammers, hydraulic
power units and hydraulic augers which is
based in North Kansas City, Mo.
“The greater mid-Atlantic and the
Florida Gulf Coast regions have historically
been our primary areas of focus. With the
acquisition of HPSI, we're thrilled to now
have increased availability of our equipment
in the Midwest as well,” said Terwilliger.
Terwilliger notes that prior to obtaining
HPSI, GeoQuip already maintained
the largest inventory of HPSI vibratory
hammers and hydraulic power units
in the world. Their exceptional quality
and reliability made them popular with
customers, he says, and as a result HPSI
foundation equipment became an essential
part of GeoQuip’s rental business.
Terwilliger says that over the years, the
owners of HPSI became good friends. When
they were looking to transition out of the
business and into retirement, GeoQuip
answered the call. As Terwilliger puts it, it
was a natural fit to bring HPSI into the fold.
