EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
This is a Conversation
that Must Continue
How often does it happen that we get busy or
become distracted, or both, and then we simply
miss something that might be right in front of us
and should be obvious? Let's face it: we live in a world where
busy is accepted and distracted is the norm. Add a few things
like a health crisis, economic concerns, business and personal
responsibilities, and the busy and distracted can quickly
become chaotic and overwhelming. That's the world we live in,
and it can cause us to miss things but it shouldn't be an excuse
to ignore things.
Let's bring this discussion to the level of members participating
in an association. To be very specific, let's talk about
members participating in PDCA. It is not lost on us that PDCA
members reside worldwide, and that this fact alone can add
to the challenges we mentioned earlier. The simple fact is that
members have businesses to run and personal lives to live, and
involvement in a trade association comes somewhere between
the point of being distracted and overwhelmed. It's pretty easy
to miss.
But that doesn't mean that nothing is going on. In fact, there
are many important things taking place. This is why PDCA has
to work harder to ensure each member understands what services,
resources and opportunities are available and how they
can access and engage in these benefits to receive the best
value for their membership. These things naturally go hand in
hand. Joining an association is only a part of what is needed to
get value for the dues paid. Involvement is the other essential
ingredient required to produce real value on the investment of
dollars and time. Let's discuss some of the things that PDCA has
been doing to provide benefits for members.
This past year has been challenging for everyone. The challenges
faced, both personal and professional, have been significant.
The PDCA Board of Directors has been actively managing
this process on behalf of PDCA members since the beginning
of the COVID-19 health crisis. With their consistent leadership,
PDCA has continued to deliver services to its members during
these uncertain times. It is easy to miss this fact, but many
people are working very hard on behalf of PDCA members to
