If they need something and we got it, they’ll get it or vice versa. So,
 the relationships have been great.”
Skinner points out many of those relationships have been
made through Parker Marine’s membership in the Pile Driving
 Contractors Association.
“Harry Robbins was the mainstay for our local chapter in South
Carolina, and he really got everything moving and going. PDCA
provided a forum for us to get together with pile drivers from all
over the country, whether they were from New Orleans or Texas or
the Midwest or up north,” he said.
Skinner believes PDCA made a huge difference in his
 professional life.
“Between the legislative work that PDCA does, the connections
that you get to make with others in the pile driving industry, the
opportunities to meet and talk with your suppliers, the programs
that are put on at the conventions – all of these things put together
have influence on how you do business and how you fare in your
business,” he said. “I believe that if you're not participating in PDCA,
then you're not getting all of the benefits. It’s just proven over the
years to be a great association for the pile driving industry.”
Skinner says he’s enjoying retirement and having more time to
be with Burnie, his wife of 45 years, and the rest of their family, a
son, two twin daughters and four grandchildren.
“Burnie and I moved to Edisto Beach, which is about an hour
from Charleston, and we spend our time boating, fishing, going to
the beach. I do a little bit of baking, some cookies and cakes and
things, and I enjoy that,” he said. “So far, I haven't been bored. There
are always projects to get done.”  t
