EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
We are expecting good results from this
significant effort.
PDCA is launching a series of Regional
Roundtable webinar presentations in
specific markets around the country to
discuss the goal of establishing local PDCA
chapters in these areas. These local chapters
will provide a way for members to meet and
engage and serve as an outreach to nonmembers.
Programs are scheduled to be
held in the Pacific Northwest, New England,
Texas, the U.S. Capitol Region, the Chicago
area and the Great Lakes Region. The
Regional Roundtable series will reconfirm
that PDCA wants to establish local chapters
and provide local volunteers assistance
to administer organization details. We
sincerely hope that next year will again offer
the opportunity for in-person meetings to
continue this significant effort to grow
the association.
Throughout 2020, the PDCA Executive
Committee and Board of Directors engaged
in providing the leadership necessary to
keep the association running. Through
their determination, dedication and
dauntless efforts, PDCA has maintained
its presence to represent the driven
pile industry and provide services and
resources to association members. This
extremely difficult year has served to pull
the Executive Committee and Board of
Directors together around a common goal.
May we say again, this is a good thing, a very
good thing.
We also want to acknowledge the
PDCA staff, who have worked through
some difficult challenges during 2020.
Personal considerations due to local and
state lockdowns, school closings and
working from home for an extended time
are just a sampling. Working through
business challenges due to cancellation
of in-person meetings, utilizing the
website and email marketing for primary
communication and changing directions
to provide education, information
and engagement through webinar
presentations is the result. The PDCA
staff have worked hard this year, harder
than they might have thought they were
capable, to provide the continuity of
services, resources and daily support to
association members.
Wave Equation Analysis
GRLWEAP Software
Pile Dynamics’ GRLWEAP:
GRLWEAP is a one-dimensional Wave Equation Analysis program that simulates
the pile response to pile driving equipment. The program calculates driving
resistance, pile stresses and estimated capacity based on blow count. GRLWEAP
helps select the appropriate hammer and driving system, while determining pile
drivability and estimated drive time. GRLWEAP is available in standard and
offshore wave versions.

While we are all currently consumed
with national politics and the upcoming
election in November, we want to take this
opportunity to remind you that there is
another important election in that same
month. Please plan to vote for the 2021
PDCA Officers and Board of Directors
by electronic ballot that will hit your
inbox in November. In the same way that
we would encourage you to vote in the
national election because it is your right
and responsibility, we want to encourage
you to vote in the PDCA election, because
it is your privilege as a PDCA member,
and it is your responsibility.
Because of the significant support by
PDCA members, through the leadership
of the PDCA Executive Committee and
Board of Directors, and with the hard work
of the PDCA staff, PDCA is in an excellent
position to continue representing the
driven pile industry through the end of
2020, but more importantly, long into
the years to come. There are some really
good things going on for PDCA and its
members even during this very difficult
time. This is the silver lining! t
