EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
There are some really good things
going on for PDCA during 2020, yes,
even during this challenging time.
encourage non-members to join, work with
existing members to engage and continue
developing the services and resources to
provide the value of membership in keeping
with the level of dues paid.
When the Board of Directors canceled
all 2020 in-person meetings due to the
health crisis, members responded by supporting
alternative programming for education,
communication and engagement.
Interestingly, this transition also provided
new opportunities. As an example, webinar
presentations have done more than fill
a void. An in-person meeting is by far the
first choice and has been one of the main
reasons for PDCA success. But when you
can’t meet in-person, there is still a reason
for members to engage, and the webinar
format has provided that platform. This is
not only true for the current year during a
health crisis but will extend itself for years
to come and provide PDCA a resource that
it didn’t previously have. This is a good
thing, a very good thing.
Members have also become more
involved in the work that is performed
by PDCA’s standing committees. PDCA
organized a standing committee chair
forum in August. Leaders from the
executive committee, board of directors,
standing committee chairs, staff and
industry professionals met for an afternoon
to discuss how best to move the Standing
Committee process forward. This was no
easy task. These individuals stayed on the
web meeting for over four hours to discuss
and provide input about this important
topic. The forum will give a much needed
kickstart to reboot standing committee
efforts to develop benefits and resources
for association members and strengthen
PDCA’s representation for the driven pile
industry. It was remarkable to see the level
of interest, care and support that these
individuals expressed toward PDCA.
