with loved ones.
▶▶Dream travel destination? Going
back to hunt in Alaska. I was there
last May. It was the wild frontier; we
went bear hunting. The weather was
terrible. But every turn you make, it
looks like a postcard.
and with people he says feel more like family than colleagues. The
newness of his role and of the deep foundations industry will continue
to wear off little by little as he immerses himself in his work.
But it really is the people around him who André counts as the
reason why he loves what he does so much. In fact, building relationships
with colleagues is the advice he’d give to someone in the
position he used to be, new to the company and ready to build a
career in deep foundations from the ground up.
“Learn as much as possible from the people around you who
have been doing this for a long time. Their advice and expertise are
worth their weight in gold. That’s where you’re going to learn everything
you need to know about deep foundations.” t

a professional baseball player.
pushed me to be the secretary. People acknowledged the nomination
and then that was it. I’ve just jumped into it and had a great
time doing it and am doing it again for 2020 as well.”
For André, being a member of PDCA is more than just about
networking or serving the pile driving community through his
secretary role.
“We want to promote driving piles,” he said. “I mean, yeah, we’re
competing against each other but we’re all in the same boat. PDCA
advocates for driving piles, and that’s important.”
While his commute isn’t what anyone would consider long –
“It’s about seven minutes from my house to the office. Nine if I
catch both lights!” – André is happy to be working close to home
