I can say confidently that I’m a better contractor and my company
is more profitable because of my participation in PDCA.
Thanks to Jay Boyd and Erich Kremer for your faithful service to
the members of PDCA. As they complete their terms of service and
depart, we welcome Diane Fischer, Jim Dempsey, Greg Canivan
and Buck Darling to the Board of Directors. Each brings a wealth of
experience and talent from their respective fields, and we’re looking
forward to the benefit of their service to the Board.
As members of PDCA, we can be confident that we have a
staff that is motivated, ready to work and believes in the value of
this association and its product. Our staff works daily to put into
action the vision of the organization and its membership. Please
take a minute to say thanks to Frank, Matt, Kathy and Marian for
their tireless efforts. It’s been said that the best team members in
any organization are volunteers. Sure, we pay them a wage, but
they could earn a wage anywhere with a single call. It’s easy for me
to say that PDCA has fantastic volunteers in our staff. They could
work anywhere – they choose to work on our behalf. How fortunate
we are!
We have a motivated staff, an energized Board and we’re working
to secure the financial future of PDCA. With your active participation,
there are few things that can’t be accomplished in the name
of promoting the driven pile. But it cannot happen without you.
Participate. Harry Robbins, a long-time mentor and past president
of PDCA, once shared with me that in all cases, those who
participate in an association gain the most. Simple. But, not easy.
At a time when I was struggling to see the value of associations
from the outside looking in (as an inactive member), I decided to
lean into the wisdom of someone years ahead of me. Thank you,
Harry. Years later, I can say confidently that I’m a better contractor
and my company is more profitable because of my participation
in PDCA.
That value is multiplied many times over as I rub shoulders
with the contractors, engineers and associates that comprise the
membership of PDCA. Whether at the local chapter, on a national
committee or in leadership at the Board level, I have found that the
value I gain through participation far outweighs the cost (financial
and time) to participate. I’m happy to provide specific examples –
just call me. But it’s not about me – it’s about us. It’s about you. Will
you give generously of your time to the only organization in the
country – the world, really – that seeks to promote and protect the
driven pile market? Don’t get me wrong, your financial contribution
helps. But we’re that much better if you participate with both
your finances and your wisdom. Commit to active membership,
join or start a local chapter and lend your voice to the national conversation
on a committee or the Board of Directors. I’m confident
that you’ll get more than you give. t
