EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
trial and hopefully little error, at minimal cost, that it can then take
to other parts of the country. The first NE Florida Chapter organizational
meeting was held Oct. 30, 2019, and the results were
very encouraging. The next meeting of this newly formed chapter
will be held early in 2020 and we will report the progress in future
issues of PileDriver. This process is strategic and purposeful, and
PDCA is committing the time to giving this a chance to produce
the good results that we believe it will. We believe that giving these
companies and individuals an opportunity to meet on a regular,
planned schedule will produce a strong base and will provide additional
opportunity for growth.
The PDCA NE Florida Chapter is not all there is. During the
ensuing year, PDCA will be taking additional time to push out
chapter initiatives to other parts of the country including the
Southwest, Midwest, Pacific Northwest, Mideast and Southern
local areas. This will not happen all at once. It will take time. Each
area will have an organizational meeting and then regular meetings
will be scheduled. Each area will have to be self-sustaining.
Each area will require volunteers to step up and step into local
leadership responsibilities. PDCA will be in a position to provide
significant chapter support for all the administrative activities
that have to take place in order for the chapter to function properly.
This will hopefully give the local leaders the opportunity to
run the chapter for the benefit of the members in that area without
the burden of administrative responsibilities. When local
chapters are successful, we believe that membership growth will
be a direct result.
PDCA will also commit the time to continue providing education
opportunities. This is not limited to just conference education
programs. It includes opportunities on a local or regional basis.
These education programs could be considered interest- or needdriven
and will include a broad range of topics. This proposition is
more open-ended, which will allow a certain level of spontaneity
to address timely concerns. These programs could be multi-day
or just a few hours in length, but they will be driven by the direct
needs of chapters and members and will be designed to try and
make the best use of their time. It is a basic tenant of trade association
life that what affects one member very likely affects many
members, and this provides the basis for developing and presenting
education programs that are informative, helpful and timely.
It is also a strong tenant of association involvement that we can
do more together than any one of us can accomplish alone. PDCA
would like to harness that reality and provide education resources
on a broad scale.
PDCA will continue its efforts to build a strong, visible foundation
that will show its strength across all available channels for
communicating the value and providing branding and name recognition.
We encourage all members to be vigilant about reviewing
their emails for information and news from PDCA. Visit the PDCA
Store on the website and get your PDCA gear to show support for
the organization. Help us build PDCA recognition within the rest
of the deep foundation industry.
Time is a hard task master, it doesn’t stand still for anyone,
and we cannot get it back when it is gone. PDCA would like to
seize the moment, take advantage of the time we have, and look
ahead to all the opportunities that will help grow and strengthen
the organization. t
