“Our strategic view is
that we want to be in
the main markets, and
we want to be present
with our own company.”

that work off of our power packs, we have
so many different options for supporting
the many different types of piles that you’ll
find in the industry.”
Then there’s the fact that Junttan rigs are
built to last.
“We build a product that withstands the
test of time,” said Dutton. “For instance, we
have a machine, the very first one that was
imported into the U.S., I believe, and it’s
still working productively and reliably up
in Connecticut for one of our clients. The
machines just don’t die!”
Dutton notes that Junttan is a longstanding
member and a big supporter of
the Pile Driving Contractors Association,
assisting with conference sponsorships and
getting involved with local chapters. He
says his company sees a lot of value in
belonging to the organization.
“We feel we have a product that can help
advance the pile driving industry, and the
PDCA is all for advancing the driven pile
and keeping it at the forefront as a viable
option for foundations,” said Dutton.
“It’s also about the personal relationships
you build,” he added. “When you participate
in the association, you develop good
relationships with other members of PDCA.
Our customers see that as a really good
thing because it shows we have a concern
for the advancement of the industry, not
just our product.”
Dutton says when PDCA leaders talked
to him about the lack of opportunities
and locations for pile driving operators
to get accredited through the National
Commission for Certification for Crane
Operators (NCCCO) program, he decided
Junttan USA should do something about
it. At the company’s Delaware and Florida
locations, plans are in the works to have
in-house instructors provide operator
training for Junttan machines that meet the
standards of NCCCO licensing.
“It will help support our customers from
a regulation standpoint, but it will help
their operators become safer and better
educated,” said Dutton. t
