marketplace. In the past several paragraphs, we have cited various
examples of the impactful work PDCA standing committees perform
for this organization. By now, you should be wondering what
committees are available and in need of your contributions; we
hope you’re interested in joining one of these committees. We will
take this opportunity to provide you a complete listing of the PDCA
standing committees and examples of their leadership.
The PDCA Education Committee has primarily worked on all
educational programs, specifically the Annual Conference and
the annual Design and Installation of Cost-Efficient Driven Piles
(DICEP) conference. The committee spends significant time each
year reviewing presentation recommendations and procuring
speakers for each event. Additionally, the committee has also
provided oversight for the Professors’ Driven Pile Institute. Gerry
McShane of Service Steel Warehouse currently serves as the chair
for the Education Committee.
The PDCA Steel Sheet Pile Committee has focused on educating
industry professionals on sheet piling and has made extensive
efforts to establish PDCA as the leader in fronting technical information
and discussions on sheet piling and brings the best technical
knowledge to the industry, covering a range of topics including
benefits, design and application, plan review and value engineering,
installation and project experience. Gerry McShane of Service
Steel Warehouse currently serves as the chair for the Steel Sheet
Pile Committee.
The PDCA Chapters Committee has served to provide a sounding
board and an exchange of information between PDCA chapters and
PDCA in the interest of creating enhanced opportunities for growth,
strength and collaboration within PDCA. John King of Pile Drivers,
Inc. currently serves as the chair for the Chapters Committee.
The PDCA Contracts & Risk Committee takes the lead in educating

subcontracts and avoid the assumption of unfair risk. Rick Kalson
of Benesch Law currently serves as the chair for the Contracts &
Risk Committee.
The PDCA Communications Committee has managed many
vital efforts that members will readily recognize. The production
of editorial guidelines, reviewing the content of PDCA publications,
including the association's magazine, PileDriver, and the
PDCA website, www.piledrivers.org, are just a few. The committee
also provides oversight for the Project of the Year Awards as well
as email communications. Jason Moore of Palmetto Pile Driving
currently serves as the chair for the Communications Committee.
The PDCA Membership Committee, as its name implies,
works toward increasing the membership of the association. Rich
Anderson of Equipment Corporation of America is the current
chair for the Membership Committee.
The PDCA Technical Committee has been a tireless group that
have considered those technical problems of interest to the membership
and the Board of Directors. They have also provided oversight
to maintain PDCA's design and installation specifications.
Dale Biggers of Boh Bros. Construction Company is the current
chair for the Technical Committee.
The PDCA Safety & Environment Committee has developed several
publications to assist members in managing job safety-related
issues. The Safety & Environmental Committee is also actively
involved in developing the deep foundation industry Working
Platforms Policy Guide. Chris Normand of Cajun Industries is the
