Cam Forrester began his golf journey
at Greenbryre Golf Club in Saskatoon,
Sask. as a member, eventually
ascending to the club captain role.
“I got hooked on the game of golf real
fast at Greenbryre,” said Forrester. “I’d get to
the club at 6 a.m., play a round of golf, and
then go to work with my dad doing architectural
drawings during the day. Then I
would go back to the golf course for a bite
to eat and another round of golf.”
In 1984, the construction industry
slowed down and there wasn’t as much
opportunity in architecture, so Forrester
took a position working in the golf shop,
and that was the beginning of his career
in clubs.
In 1990, he joined the newly built Moon
Lake Golf and Country Club in Saskatoon.
There he met Tammy, his wife of over 30
years and counting. One of the many reasons
that they’ve had a long and loving
marriage is that Tammy understood the
demands of working and managing in the
club business.
Then in the fall, he took the head pro
position at the Stanley Thompson-designed
Waskesiu Golf Course in Prince Albert
National Park. Forrester describes his time
at Waskesiu as “the best job I’ve ever had.”
Eventually, he was promoted to general
manager and spent 10 years there.
Then one day, out of the blue, opportunity
came knocking. Forrester received
a phone call that the general manager at
Riverside Country Club was moving on.
Forrester jumped at the opportunity to
move back to Saskatoon and enjoyed a very
successful 17 years at Riverside.

long-time supporter of the club industry
