From its inception 17 years ago, it has been steady growth for
Engineering Partners International (EPI), a Minneapolis-
based engineering firm that primarily provides services
to contractors working in the areas of specialty foundation
construction and underpinning, earth retention, earthwork,
tunneling and demolition.
Formed in 2001 by Rich Greenlee, P.E., a civil/structural
engineer, who established an office in Minneapolis, Minn., and
Bruce Weber, P.E., a geotechnical engineer based out of Madison,
Wis., EPI has focused on providing engineering services for
contractors working primarily in the deep foundation and earth
retention industry.
“We have developed strong relationships with our contractor
clients and understand the constructability side of design,” said
Chad Underwood, P.E., principal. “Since the company started, we
have had a combination of structural engineering and geotechnical
engineering expertise from the leadership level down. Having this
mix of experienced personnel is critical to providing services in the
deep foundation and earth retention consulting world.”
In the early years, Greenlee and Weber had the support of two
individuals who were critical to the success of the company – Steve
Redfield (CAD designer) and Bogdan Winiarczyk, P.E. (structural
engineer). In 2008 and 2009, Greenlee and Weber began the process
of transitioning ownership of the company to Underwood and
Greg Greenlee, P.E., Rich Greenlee’s son. However, Rich Greenlee
continues to provide invaluable insight on a consulting basis,
while Redfield continues to play a critical role in the organization.
