Forever
Changed
The future of communication
and professional development
By Rob Foster, MBA
By now, many of us are frankly sick of the word “COVID,”
resulting from the sheer danger of the pandemic, but also
the countless changes and adaptations that have stemmed
from it to our personal and business lives. It’s hard to believe that
more than a year ago, we were hearing about a dangerous “flu”
that was spreading over many foreign countries. We continued
to conduct our day-to-day routines, not knowing that there was
a tsunami on the horizon that would forever change the way we
conduct our lives, businesses, communication and learning.
There were three prominent words or phrases that the
pandemic spawned: “The new normal;” “pivot;” and “we can’t hear
you – you’re on mute .” Our new reality brought the need to adapt
and find ways to keep moving forward amid a global phenomenon
of epic proportions.
As economists try to make predictions on the future of
industries during these tumultuous times, one thing is for certain
– the way we communicate and learn has been changed forever.
Ask yourself this question, “Before the pandemic, how much did I
know about Zoom, Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting, Microsoft Teams
and the countless other video conferencing software options that
we are using today?” Are you an expert now?
