PAST PRESIDENTS
Like Wayne, I quickly learned that pile drivers from across
the country were sharing similar experiences. There
was a free sharing of ideas with PDCA. I developed
friendships with counterparts all over the country.
These folks would do anything to help each other.
– Harry Robbins
driven piles. PDCA local chapters have given pile drivers the tools
to be effective at marketing their product at the local level.
PDCA also needs to stay engaged with design professionals.
Educate them about the benefits of driven piles. Listen and learn
from them.
VH: PDCA needs to continue to facilitate communication and
education, provide access to governing/rulemaking groups and
promote research and innovation.
JK: This is another great question, because everything changes.
Codes change, equipment changes, members’ needs change.
The things that people really need, PDCA can’t help with. We
need employees. We need to find people who want to work and
work hard.
I guess the biggest thing PDCA needs to do is keep making us
meet at least once a year. Go over new codes and equipment and
ask members what they need.
And everybody needs to be better about marketing driven piles.
BD: I understand what John is saying about people – get fresh
blood involved! Like it or not, the next generation must take over
in order for PDCA to thrive. There has been a core group of people
over the years who have devoted great time and effort to the organization
and that is phenomenal. But without a new “core” being
developed, the organization will fall behind. Everyone personally
involved in PDCA needs to think about who will fill their shoes
and foster their interest along with how they will mentor them in
the process.
