Every aspect of the work performed
requires corresponding education to make
sure that things are being done correctly
and to a high level. Education also serves
to challenge the status quo which is so
desperately needed for the industry to
advance. Education confirms the vast
experience represented by the members
who perform the work. When we stop
learning, we stop growing. PDCA has been
at the forefront in providing education
opportunities to help its members continue
the practice of driving piles. Education has
also been provided in the form of public
information. PDCA members regularly
provide information to public questions
about pile driving. Some of these activities
have actually turned into job opportunities
for PDCA members. Education activities
will continue for the benefit of all members
and to provide the necessary information
to help the pile driving industry to continue
and grow.
By its very existence, PDCA for 25 years
has been providing support to the pile driving
industry. It is no small thing that members
have a place to turn when they have
questions, need education or wonder who
might be working in another area. PDCA
is that place. It is a work in process, a
growing and ever-changing environment,
but also a place of stability and certainty.
Members can count on the organization by
having access to its resources, other members
and a professional staff. When it comes
to pile driving, members have a one-stopshop
to turn their questions into answers,
their problems into opportunities and their
expertise into resources to help the industry.
PDCA only exists because of the need
that members have to come together, and
the organization has been serving that need
faithfully for the past 25 years!
Yes, PDCA has been around for 25 years.
Time will be the judge of whether the
organization has completed its mission to
“Effectively communicate the benefits of
the driven pile through education and continuous
improvement of methods, material
and equipment to the industry.” If the past
25 years are any indication, we believe that
time will judge the organization well.
Looking to the future, we also see that
there are opportunities to grow, improve
and continue providing the excellent services
that members deserve. Even as we
face the challenges and uncertainties that
come with the industry we represent,
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
PDCA will continue to seek new members,
help the businesses we represent and support
the people we work with to unapologetically
and faithfully represent the pile
driving industry.
Every member has a place to serve and
support the organization and we invite you
to step in and step up. Each time you open
an email from PDCA, attend an education
program or event sponsored by PDCA,
or participate on a Standing Committee,
the Board of Directors or the Executive
Committee, you are helping PDCA help the
pile driving industry. That’s how it works.
That’s how PDCA works, and this is equally
important today as it was when PDCA
was started.
The industry has changed, time moves
on and the work of PDCA continues. When
you consider the fact that pile driving has
been around as long as it has, then we could
say that the 25 years that PDCA has been in
existence is only just the beginning of this
important story. We are excited to see what
the next chapter will look like. t
Happy anniversary,
PDCA!
