By Pat Rediger
Ever since PND Engineers, Inc. was formed in 1979 in
Anchorage, Alaska, the company has been showcasing
pile driving innovation.
PND is a consulting engineering firm that offers a range of civil

engineering services, from building structural design to coastal engineering.
The company has expanded over the years to include office locations in Juneau and
Palmer, Alaska, as well as additional office locations outside the state in Seattle, Wash.;
Portland, Ore.; Houston, Texas; and Vancouver, B.C.
“PND has grown over the years but has always maintained the values of providing the
best possible engineering for our clients, research and innovation in our fields of practice, and
loyalty to our employees,” said Jim Campbell, president of PND.
Often working in regions with harsh climates such as the North Slope, Alaska, PND
has learned to compensate by developing innovative solutions for its clients, including indepth
pile processes. Campbell said the pile driving industry plays a major role in the company’s
operations.
ConocoPhillips Alaska contracted
PND to design the $100 million
Colville River Nigliq Channel Bridge
near Nuiqsut, Alaska. The bridge
provided a throughway for access
to the company’s CD5 site, while
also providing an opportunity for
future development in the National
Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.
