Safe and fast automated pile cutting
Supplied by MotoCut Ltd.
Finland-based MotoCut Ltd. has developed a revolutionary
concept for cutting concrete and steel piles. The patented
MotoCut pile cutters can cut up to 150 to 250 piles per day
with just one man and one excavator. After cutting, the pile cut-offs
can be safely placed to a desired location with the MotoCut unit
or even loaded directly on a truck. The company’s newest innovation
is the MotoCut plasma cutter, which is a fully automated and
computer-controlled cutter for steel piles and pipes.
MotoCut pile cutters are hydraulically driven excavator attachments.
The concrete pile cutters use two diamond blades to cut the
pile simultaneously from two sides. The steel pile cutters use a plasma
arc to cut steel piles and pipes. MotoCut’s automated cutters are
attached to an excavator and operated from the safety of an isolated,

climate-controlled excavator cabin. There are no risks for falling piles,
dust or hand and arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) issues. In addition
to far better site safety, MotoCut cutters speed up the construction
site schedules and improve the productivity in pile cutting to up
to five times higher than in manual cutting.
MotoCut Ltd. was founded in 2012 and its first product, the
MotoCut pile cutter, was launched in 2014. Since then, the company
has expanded, one construction site at a time, with the intention
to mechanize pile cutting by increasing efficiency and improving
occupational safety. MotoCut provides a competitive advantage to
its customers by making pile cutting safer, more efficient and of
higher quality. The MotoCut concrete pile cutter has won a Quality
Innovation Award from the Finnish Quality Association.
