background, there is a place for you among the ranks of PDCA.
I am confident you will find unexpected rewards and a positive
experience if you will only give it a try.
I also encourage everyone to attend the International
Foundations Congress and Equipment Expo (IFCEE) 2018 in
Orlando, Fla., March 5 to 10. PDCA will be joined by three other
geo-construction and geo-engineering associations as partners in
this exciting program, with additional cooperating organizations
supporting the program, and more than 3,000 in attendance. This
year, PDCA will present the first E.A.L. Smith Award Lecture.
PDCA’s first honoree and presenter for this distinguished award
will be Dr. Bengt Fellenius, Dr. Tech., P.Eng. I have known Dr.
Fellenius for many years. He has a unique and very practical
approach to engineering and a rich collection of experiences. His
lecture is titled, “Static and Dynamic Testing and Analysis of
Piles – A Retrospective,” and will be of interest to not only pile
drivers, but also engineers who design and consult with us on our
projects. The conference will also feature the only outdoor equipment
show exclusively for the deep foundation industry, as well as
an expansive indoor exhibit hall.
Being involved in PDCA has always been a great experience
for me. I want to thank everyone who gave their time, talent and
financial support to make this a really great year for PDCA. I
cannot thank the PDCA staff enough for everything they have
done. Steve, Debbie and Marian, PDCA is lucky to have you. I
also want to mention that Steve is constantly finding new initiatives
and opportunities for PDCA. He is always on the road
representing PDCA, so I should thank his wife, Cathy, for letting
us borrow him so often.
I would also be remiss if I did not thank the board for all
their time, commitment and leadership. I was lucky to have
such a good Board of Directors. I also want to thank the executive
committee – Marty Corcoran, Larry Moore, Pollyanna
Cunningham and Bill Marczewski. You guys were always there
to help resolve a multitude of issues and I am confident your
continued role on the executive committee will be an asset to
PDCA.
I want to thank you, the members of PDCA, for giving me the
opportunity to serve as your president this past year. I look forward
to seeing all of you in the near future at our many events. t
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I encourage every PDCA member to get involved in
this amazing organization. I have found it to be a
constantly rewarding and educating experience.
Safe. Sound. Secure.
