MEMBER PROFILE – CONTRACTOR
DDF’s team is a veteran crew that
Hendriksen has largely brought along for
the journey.
“The core of our group has worked
together for decades. Some of these guys
have worked for me since the ‘80s. When
I fired up the new entity, they followed
along and came to work for me, and when
the acquisition happened, they were more
than happy to continue. Our relationship
with Clyde Companies greatly improved
their benefit package, so that’s been a plus
for my guys.”
With years of experience comes a
sense of professionalism and caution.
Hendriksen is particularly proud of the
company’s history of safety.
“We have zero accidents or incidents
in our five-year history. Zero,” he said.
“We’ve never had a Band-Aid®. This reputation
for safety excellence has opened
doors for us. You go on some of these projects
– refineries especially – and they say
their first priority is looking at the safety
record and the dollars are secondary to
them. When we show them our record,
they know they’ve found the right partner
for the job.”
Hendriksen and DDF are also big
advocates of the Pile Driving Contractors
Association (PDCA).
“I’ve been a member of PDCA for
a good part of my career; my previous
employer was basically a founding member.
As soon as I started Desert Deep
Foundations, we immediately joined the
organization and have been participating
on a couple committees.”
Industry events and conferences
have also been a valuable resource for
Hendriksen’s team. When the Professors’
Driven Pile Institute was in Logan, Utah,
he was a big supporter of the conference
and coming together of the industry.
“I’ve found PDCA conferences to be
educational and informative. I’ve been able
to make some great contacts there – relationships
that have been very valuable in
terms of networking and connecting with
suppliers, equipment manufacturers and
technology companies who are helping us
advance work in the industry.”
Hendriksen’s commitment to the
association, his team and his community
are examples of why he’s been successful
in the industry for 30-plus years, and, why
he’ll probably be around for 30 more. t
