Saskatoon, a city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, was considered
one of the fastest growing cities in Canada a few years ago. The area has hit a
few economic bumps in recent years, but this prairie city of a quarter million
residents has an economy buoyed by potash, oil and wheat, as well as the presence of
such institutions as the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
The province is also enjoying its highest (albeit modest) population ever, at a little over
1,150,000 people – growing cities favor the builder.
