PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

In a word, this year’s 20th Annual
International Conference and Expo
in New Orleans, La. was a “success.”
From the first day’s opening PDCA scholarship
fundraiser bowling tournament to
the next day’s keynote speaker, Dr. Shawn
Wilson of the State of Louisiana Department
of Transportation and Development,
to our last day’s keynote speaker,
Silas Nichols from the Federal Highway
Administration, the conference was nonstop
activities for all attending.
The location chosen for this conference
could not have been better. The
general sessions and exhibit hall were set
up for ease of movement throughout. The
outside activities were just as easy, with
Bourbon Street and the French Quarter
out the back door of the hotel.
For those who attended the presentations
by Dick Hartman, Gerry McShane,
Alexander Filotti, Ben Green, Daniel
Benedetto and Paul Axtell, all came away
with a better understanding of our industry
and how to better prepare our companies
for success.
For those visiting the exhibit hall
(which was full, including overflow exhibits
in the hallway), new friends were made
and old ones rekindled. The exhibitors
had plenty of people to talk to since this
was the most attended annual conference
in PDCA’s history. To top off all the
events, the final night’s annual dinner was
