you never know what you’re going to get and what condition it’s in,”

The Dietels believe that another crucial element of the company’s
success is that each generation of ownership has kept business
front and center, in spite of life’s distractions.
“Oftentimes, owners get distant from the day-to-day business
when it becomes successful. They become more interested in getting
a pay check or getting to go fishing, etc. But if you’re not paying
close enough attention to what’s really going on in your business,
you may not know you’re in trouble until it’s too late,” said Kristian.
Kristian’s journey
Growing up around the family business and noting that his only
sibling, sister Gretchen, wasn’t at all interested in construction,
Kristian always knew that if he worked hard and put the time and
effort in, he might one day inherit the family company.
“When I started, Randy gave me a shovel and some gloves and
said, ‘You need to start at the bottom,’ so I did,” Kristian said. “So I
started out there and worked my way up to the point where I could
actually run some of the equipment.”
