PDCA recently completed the 16th
Annual Design and Installation of
Cost-Efficient Piles (DICEP) conference
at the Renaissance Newark Airport
Hotel, in Newark, N.J.
The conference location, timing and
theme, “The Efficiency of Driven Pile and
Sheeting for Rapid Coastal Rebuild After
a Natural Disaster – Lessons Learned from
Hurricane Sandy,” could not have been
more appropriate.
It had been ten years since Hurricane
Katrina devastated the gulf coast states –
the costliest hurricane ever in U.S. history.
It had been 23 months since Hurricane
Sandy left its mark on the northeastern
U.S., causing $62 billion in damage, the
most expensive since Hurricane Katrina.
And it had been just days since PDCA
staff in Orange Park, Fla. saw the fortunate
break-up of “Erika,” which was scheduled to
hit the Florida east coast.
