to start a shop and employ their own mechanics to ensure reliable
ways to keep their trucks maintained. Hutchinson hired a mechanic,
who, once finished with the jobs for the construction company,
worked on jobs for other local clients.
The name Company Wrench came to Hutchinson from a conversation
with a stranded truck operator where he told the client that
he would send over his “company wrench,” which refers to an on-staff
mechanic.
“That’s really where the company was born,” said Hutchinson.
“We started out doing heavy truck repairs and small equipment
repair.”
In 2001, Company Wrench shifted its focus from commercial
truck repair to heavy equipment. In 2002, Company Wrench’s equipment
offering began to really grow with the addition of Labounty
Attachments and Beka-Max dealership licenses. Just one year later,
Company Wrench became the second largest LaBounty Dealer
and broke a 31-year record in 2004 to become the number one
Labounty dealer in the world. They also found great success with
Gehl Compact Equipment.
“We had so much equipment, we sold off the truck side and
focused on machinery rental and sales. It was dumb luck we found
a niche in the business no one else in the market was doing, and we
put 100 percent into it and made it grow,” said Hutchinson. “Our
main line is specialized demolition scrap equipment; we rent and sell
those lines. We also hold 11 patents on machine designs and have
five patents pending.”
Since 2003, Company Wrench has been awarded the #1
LaBounty Global Dealer and from 2006, they received the #1 Terex
Fuchs U.S. Dealer award. Company Wrench dealership locations
began to open across the eastern part of the country and now offer
equipment and attachments from Gehl, Terex Fuchs, Kobelco, Sany,
LaBounty, Screen Machine, Built-rite, Stanley, Indeco, Winkle,
Anvil, Rotobec, CE Attachments and Sentry Tire.
In 2010, Company Wrench established C.W. MachineWorx,
their manufacturing division. The first machine designed and patented
by C.W. MachineWorx was a dust suppression machine, used
for demolition dust control in landfills, quarries and port facilities.
In 2013, they introduced their Hi-pressure Water Cannon, the
H.A.W.C, to the international market. The H.A.W.C. is the only
fully-mobile, diesel-powered dust suppression package in the industry.
Not only does it put out the highest gallons of water per minute
(GPM) of any dust suppression machine on the market, but it also
dominates the market in terms of effectiveness in material retention,
odor control, irrigation, evaporation and coverage cap applications.
The versatility of this machine puts it in high demand in a wide
variety of industries.
Developed for the demolition industry, the H.A.W.C. has
become the industry leader in dust control. It has also proven itself
valuable in the coal industry as a solution to coal powder containment.
The H.A.W.C. meets the needs in landfill applications as well
as marathons, outdoor sporting events, training facilities for football
and other sports, and even rock concerts have been ideal places for
the evaporating and misting abilities of a H.A.W.C. unit. In 2014,
they began worldwide distribution with their partnership with
Magnum Australia and are currently gaining more American and
international distributors.
