Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in a related
geotechnical field and minimum of eight years of experience following
obtaining P.E. licensure. Eligible candidates then participate in an
oral exam where they present case studies, demonstrating their ability
to analyze and synthesize data and develop alternative solutions.
AGP conducts these exams using video-conferencing, so candidates
can make their presentation (and answer questions about it) from
the comfort of their own home or office, resulting in cost and time
savings for both the examinee and panel.
AGP ethics training
Since 2012, AGP has held Ethics Workshops at the G-I Congress.
This is especially beneficial because many states now require ethics
as part of their continuing education requirements. In addition, the
academy requires four hours of ethics training every two years. If
you were unable to attend the latest session, you can go to the AGP
website to watch a video from a previous workshop and obtain professional
development hours (PDHs), provided you haven’t watched
it before.
What’s next?
A significant amount of work has been done to raise the awareness
and value of AGP, but more still needs to be done. AGP is
