SERVING NEW YORK, OHIO

– Sean Griffin
he desperately missed being in sales.
“Apart from the overall excitement of
sales, I really missed the face-to-face interaction
with customers and everything that
goes into building those relationships,” said
Griffin.
After some extensive thought and consideration,
he knew it was time to get
back into sales. Right around that time, he
was approached by one of his peers about
an opportunity at Edgen Murray in their
growing civil and infrastructure team. It
didn’t take much convincing for him to
make the switch.
“I felt the need for a bigger challenge in
my career, and the appeal of being involved
with large-scale civil projects played a big
role in my decision,” said Griffin. “The fact
that I was presented with such a fantastic
opportunity at Edgen Murray, in what I knew
was an incredibly fast growing market within
a dynamic team, made this the easiest decision
I’ve ever had to make in my career.”
He knew going in there would be quite
a few differences in the civil and infrastructure
industry, compared to the line pipe
sales he spent the last 20 years doing.
“The civil and infrastructure business
is more project-based, where the line pipe
business is more transactional; there are
also product differences like pipe pilings
versus mechanical tubing. Additionally, the
order size and frequency is usually different;
large, project-based orders versus small
repetitive orders in the line pipe business,”
he said. “I knew there would be a learning
curve, but I was excited about the opportunity
for a new challenge, and I knew my
experience and skills would work well in
the market Edgen Murray was looking to
tap into.”
For Griffin, the opportunity to work
