Making a career change after 20
years may seem a bit daunting
to some, but for Sean Griffin
it was a welcomed challenge. He spent
more than two decades selling line pipe
and mechanical tubing to fabricators and
contract machine shops throughout the
Midwest. Hence, when Griffin had the
opportunity to join the civil and infrastructure

team at Edgen Murray, there was
much about the products, applications and
industry he had to learn. He was up for the
challenge.
A passion for people and a lifelong
competitive drive led Griffin into sales at
an early age.
“I guess, first and foremost, the thrill
of the chase is what excited me most about
sales; the idea of owning something and
running with it,” said Griffin. His career
path at his former company began with a
position as an inside salesman, soon moving

to an outside sales role as a regional
account manager. Eventually, he was promoted
to sales manager where he continued
to be responsible for his territory, as well
as managing and directing his inside sales
team. Then, at the request of the company
president, Griffin was given the responsibility
for plant operations at one of their
largest and busiest warehouses. Although
he thoroughly enjoyed working to get the
facility running smoothly and productively,
