When completed, the new port terminal in the Nueva
Reforma area of Peru will benefit nearly 5 million
people in both the immediate and surrounding areas.
The $43.7-million privately funded infrastructure project will
also complete the Interoceanic Corridor of the North Amazon
(Corredor Vial Interoceánico Amazonas Norte) and will provide
greater communication between the Amazon and the Atlantic
Ocean through company IIRSA Norte to the Pacific Ocean at
Paita Port.
Divided into two phases, construction on the port began in
May 2014, with a projected completion date of December 31, 2016
for Phase 1.
