Since its founding in 1903, McLean
Contracting Company, a 100 percent
employee-owned S corporation,
has completed nearly 5,700 heavy civil and
marine construction projects.
McLean builds and rehabilitates all
types of bridge structures, including segmental
and movable bridges, piers and bulkheads,
provides steel erection and cofferdams,
marine demolition, salvage, heavy
lifts and mechanical dredge services. Its
client list includes government agencies,
heavy industry, marine terminals, railroads,
shipyards, oil companies, coal terminals,
utilities and smaller-scale customers in the
Mid-Atlantic region.
Areas of operation
The company divides its core business
areas into two geographical areas east of
Interstate 95. McLean’s northern region
consists of Maryland, Delaware and D.C.
Its southern region includes Virginia and
North Carolina. McLean will go further
afield for specialty clients and has worked
as far south as Florida and as far west as
Kentucky.
Headquartered in Glen Burnie, Md.,
the company’s regional offices and marine
construction yards are located in Baltimore,
