Big Things
for 2015
Let me begin the first quarter edition of PileDriver magazine
for 2015 by saying, HAPPY NEW YEAR! All of us
at PDCA want to wish our members, guest subscribers,
future 2015 PDCA members and all the rest of you out there in pile
driving country a prosperous, successful, healthy and happy 2015.
We are very fortunate to have an extremely dedicated group of
officers and directors at the helm of PDCA. Throughout 2014, the
Executive Committee and Board of Directors were very successful
in providing the leadership and guidance required to keep PDCA
moving forward, providing continued success and a determined
focus on the established goals and objectives of the association’s
strategic plan.
I want to personally thank Mike Justason, president of PDCA.
As president, Mike’s governance has been one of complete dedication
to the success of PDCA, with uncompromising integrity,
incontrovertible character and professional leadership. Mike’s willingness
to discuss PDCA issues with me at any and all times, and
to handle the tough issues and responsibilities that is inherent with
the highest office of this organization, is commendable and beyond
reproach. I not only look forward to his remaining term as president,
but also his leadership in 2015-16 as the PDCA immediate
past president.
I also want to thank the Board of Directors for their leadership
and support throughout 2014. For those members leaving the
Board in 2015, I say, “Thank you!” Serving your association over
the past several years has made a difference and your participation
is greatly appreciated.
I am looking forward to having Eric Alberghini (Norwalk
Marine) assume his role as president for 2015-16 this March at the
International Foundations Congress & Equipment Expo (IFCEE)
2015, in San Antonio, Texas. Eric is a thoughtful and articulate
leader with a strong desire for ensuring PDCA’s success at all levels.
Eric’s success in the pile driving industry will serve PDCA well during
his tenure as president.
I hope everyone has already or will (very) soon register your
attendance at IFCEE 2015. PDCA is proud to once again be a
partner in this special industry event, which will be held at the prestigious
J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa
from March 17-21, 2015. The conference will feature the world’s
largest exhibit show dedicated solely to the foundation industry,
over 35 hours of educational presentations by industry leaders and
opportunities to network and connect with key decision-makers.
When I say, “You can’t afford NOT to attend,” I am not just
reciting a catchphrase from the brochure. If you want to see the
latest technology, hear about improvements and practices in your
industry, touch the newest in equipment and learn about product
advances that will help promote your bottom line, then you really
can’t afford not to attend.
Looking back, moving forward
In 2014, PDCA was very active in membership, education,
industry, governance and leadership. All of the PDCA accomplishments
within these categories can be viewed on the PDCA
website, www.PileDrivers.org, by accessing the “Join PDCA” page
located in the top middle-right of the home page.
In 2015, PDCA has established our goals and objectives
through a focused meeting with the Executive Committee and
Board of Directors. This year’s tactical meeting, or strategic planning
session, is at the new PDCA office, Jan. 21 to 23. At the time
of this writing, the meeting is yet to occur and so, unfortunately, I
cannot provide the details of PDCA’s strategic plan for 2015 at this
time. However, I assure you they will be available and provide a successful
roadmap to ensure continuity and sustainability of PDCA,
with prioritized programs, appropriate allocation of resources and
deliverables that are measureable and realistic.
In 2014, PDCA maintained a renewal rate in all membership
categories that would be considered impressive by any
association standard. PDCA values the support and participation
of each and every member. As company members and individuals
of those companies, you
are directly responsible for
PDCA successes in 2014.
Maintaining your membership
in 2015 will be
incumbent for our continued
success and positive
inf luence on your
industry.
