Future career goals
As for his next steps, Brooks says his
career goals are somewhat limited in his
current position, but this causes him little
concern.
“I love working for a company like
ICE®. Most of these guys have been with
the company 20 years or more and are still
coming up with amazing ideas,” he said.

appreciates me.”

Brooks is also looking forward to attending
the International Foundations Congress
and Equipment Expo (IFCEE) in March.
“This is a great time to touch base
with customers and attend many informative
presentations,” he said.
Looking at the pile driving industry
overall, Brooks says the industry over
the next several years is one that includes
larger piling – a continuing trend – and
the continuation of technology creeping
its way into the products.
“For young people interested in this
industry, I would advise them that this is
a relatively small industry with a limited
number of job opportunities,” he said. “I
suggest an internship or co-op during
school, so by the time they are ready to
look for a job, they have prior experience
to show they are serious about joining the
industry.”
He also highly recommends that they
join PDCA.
“It’s a great organization that is creating
so many training programs for the
industry. It is a completely valued resource
to my employer and to me as an engineer. I
have found that young engineers with both
mechanical and hydraulics experience are
the most valued to our industry.” t
